Andersen Malaysia Executive Internship Program (“AMEIP”)

Duration

  • Minimum four (4) to maximum 12 weeks

Objectives

The AMEIP is developed to enable young graduates to lay a foundation for their future careers after tertiary education. This Program aims to:

  1. Develop the ability of interns to select an appropriate industry sector for fulfilling their passion in life.
  2. Gain essential knowledge about Corporate Management and Advisory Services.
  3. Develop industry-specific skills, technical competencies, and hands-on experience relevant to the Professional Services sector, such as corporate advisory, financial analysis, consulting, legal research, or project management.
  4. Provide exposure to the corporate culture, professional standards, and work environment within the sector, helping them understand the expectations and demands of the field.
  5. Enable interns to establish professional relationships and expand their network within the industry, potentially leading to future job opportunities or mentorship.
  6. Provide a platform to apply theoretical knowledge gained in academic settings to real-world scenarios, encouraging problem-solving and critical thinking abilities in real-life cases.
  7. Build responsibility and ownership by involving interns in ongoing projects or initiatives and contributing to the AMSB’s objectives.
  8. Provide a platform for interns to receive constructive feedback on their performance, allowing them to identify areas for improvement and further development.
  9. Encourage diversity and inclusion within the sector by offering internship opportunities to individuals from various backgrounds, fostering a more inclusive workplace culture as part of the AMSB’s social responsibility, and contributing to building the best-in-class professional services sectors in Malaysia.

The Position

The Tax Technical Director is responsible for the delivery and for providing strategic leadership and technical direction to the firm’s tax professionals across the country. You will be responsible for ensuring that the firm’s tax professionals are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high quality tax services to clients. You will work closely with other leaders in the tax practice, as well as with partners and directors across the firm, to develop and implement tax policies procedures and best practices. 

Qualifications & Skills

 

  • Degree in Commerce, Law or Accounting.
  • Holds a professional qualification e.g., ACCA, CPA or MICPA.
  • Must be a member of the Chartered Taxation Institute of Malaysia.
  • A minimum of 12 years experience in supporting tax compliance, advisory and transfer pricing assignments.
  • A track record and reputation for possession of an exceptional grasp of the Malaysian taxation and global tax landscape.
  • A proactive and mature approach to ‘making the role your own’ and adding value to the firm and the firm’s clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the technical tax advisory functions
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior tax professionals, fostering a high-performing team capable of managing complex tax issues.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns, managing audits, and ensuring adherence to transfer pricing rules and other regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and judicial rulings to anticipate the potential impact on the organization and mitigate risks associated with non-compliance.
  • Maintain quality control on assignments and projects.
  • Advise on tax issues pertaining to cross border tax and transfer pricing issues.
  • Contribute points of view and intelligence to firm thought leadership.
  • Implement tax automation tools, data analytics, and software solutions that facilitate compliance and reporting.
